Jean Parry Clayton, 99, of Freeport, Illinois, died July 25, 2024, in Freeport.
She was born in Columbia, Missouri on October 1, 1924, the daughter of Thomas W. and Exie (Gray) Parry. She graduated John Burroughs High School in St. Louis, Missouri in 1942, and she graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in 1946, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
Jean married Thomas D. Clayton at the Episcopal Church of St. Michael and St. George in St. Louis, Missouri on February 15, 1947.
She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, where she served on the Altar Guild for 23 years. She had been a Pink Lady volunteer at Freeport Memorial Hospital and a member of the Amity Society. Before retirement, she was active in real estate sales for 26 years.
Surviving are three daughters, Susan (Mark) Isham of Iowa City, Iowa, Kathryn (Joel) Kadarauch of Anchorage, Alaska, and Anne (Michael) Griebel of Richmond, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Bill (Jessica) Isham, Ted
