Dennis Piefer ("Denny"), 76, passed away the morning of Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 peacefully at home after a battle with cancer. Dennis was born on October 19th, 1948 in Freeport, IL to Leroy and Elizabeth (Morton) Piefer and graduated from Freeport High School with the class of 1966. He met his wife Bonnie (Lubenow) Piefer during his career with Eagles and they married on November 8th, 1989.
Denny had a love for dirt racing and photography in which he spent most of his life traveling the highways and interstates of the Midwest following his favorite drivers. Eldora Speedway always held a special place in his heart. He called it his "Heaven on Earth", as he would roll over the hill on 118. Outside of racing he was a big sports fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, any team Mike Ditka or Peyton Manning were involved with and like many of us, a fan of the notorious 90s Chicago Bulls.
